We want to offer the best conditions and tools for trusted operation. To achieve this, it is necessary that several properties are at a high level at the same time.

Availability

It does not matter how interesting and affordable our services are if they are not available. For us, high availability and predictable performance are always top priority. Our services span three data centers located at a disaster-safe distance (20km) from each other. Each data center is also in itself completely redundant and we have at least 4 connections to the internet. We always have a guaranteed overcapacity in the platform to handle peak loads, growth and redundancy. As our platforms are automated, an application can automatically scale up if needed.

Security

We work with safety from both the business through good routines and processes and with technical solutions. From the business point of view, we meet the requirements for ISO 27001, ISO 27017 and ISO 27018 and we are ready to take on new certifications when we see a demand from our customers. We are both certified and verified as we have met these requirements for several years now.

It is we who own and handle all equipment and everyone who works with us are Swedish citizens. All our data centers are staffed 24x7 and our equipment is in our own space where only we and our approved staff can enter. ID checks are always performed on site and several levels of camera-monitored physical protection must be passed to enter.

Technically, we work to maintain and improve the security of the infrastructure on an ongoing basis and to offer services that will facilitate a secure application operation. As protection from the internet, our Bot & Scraper protection is always included which blocks known bad sources on the Internet (scrapers and botnets) and you can choose to add DDoS protection and WAF (Web Application Firewall). Some of our most popular services in general are HSM (Hardware Security Module) for storing secrets, firewall as a service and volume encryption to protect your data.

Sustainability

We want it to feel good in the stomach. Sustainability in our society and the environment is very important to us. We are ISO 14001 certified and all our services are powered by green electricity, even our bikes and cars are. We are a Swedish company that pays tax here in Sweden and we only work with customers who we think contribute to society. Companies that we do not want to work with are, for example, gambling and sms loans. We love innovation and work with several interesting Swedish initiatives and sponsor some projects that we think contribute to a sustainable society and environment.

Support

Getting help when needed is perhaps the single most important thing. All our services include 24x7 support where we respond within 15 minutes around the clock. It is the same team that works with the operation and development of our services that responds when you need help so you get qualified help directly. We help you with our services and can also help higher up the stack and we can also monitor your application 24x7. In our support portal you can follow all your cases and it is enough with an email to open a new one. We have a status page where we inform about the status of our services and all planned service windows. We inform at least 10 days before a service window and if there is an increased risk or a planned disturbance (which it rarely is) we do the work outside office hours (CET).

Without Lock-in

We do not believe in working with customers who do not want to work with us. We also want a business model that reduces the risk to our customers and goes hand in hand with the customer's needs. Therefore, we have no binding times on our services and we charge per hour for the resources used. We have no proprietary services that can provide a technical lock-in. We work with open standards and open source so that you can as easily as possible choose where you want to run your application. It should be easy to start using our services and also easy to end them.

Legislation

We have the advantage of being Swedish. In addition to being in a safe part of the world, Sweden and Europe have legislation that protects your privacy and security. With our ISO certifications we can sign data processing agreements with our customers so we are a secure partner for handling personal data covered by GDPR and our services are Cloud Act free.

Backup Ninja

We want to provide the best tools and conditions to run your application in a secure way, and now we have one more tool from our partner Backup Ninja.

Backup Ninja is a simple and secure backup service to backup open source databases, files, and folders locally or on the cloud using advanced encryptions for security. It works well with any cloud providers offering S3 compatible object storage without any complicated configuration. Swift is ELASTX object storage component which Backup Ninja can use to store backups. 

The Backup Ninja SaaS service is the control plane to schedule and monitor your backups. Your backup data will always be copied directly from your server to the object storage provider that you have chosen. The encryption keys used to encrypt the backups are owned by you and stored locally on your server.

Supported databases are MySQL, MariaDB, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Percona and TimescaleDB.

This is how you configure ELASTX as the storage provider in Backup Ninja. 

Setting up ELASTX on Backup Ninja

Step 1: Select ELASTX as a cloud provider.

Step 2: Enter the ELASTX cloud credential settings. The bucket name can be any name of your preference.

You need an ELASTX Openstack account and you can create the ELASTX Openstack Swift s3 credentials by running the following openstack cli command.

“openstack ec2 credentials create”

Step 3:  Give a name for your cloud storage configuration. This will be used when you schedule a backup.

Step 4: ELASTX cloud is configured on Backup Ninja.

Schedule Backups on ELASTX Using Backup Ninja

Once you have successfully configured the cloud storage, you can now easily configure the backup schedule on Backup Ninja in just five steps.

Step 1:  Enter the details for the backup schedule.

Step 2: Select the cloud credentials created earlier from the dropdown. The retention period has defaulted to 7 days, you may change it accordingly.

Step 3: Enter the backup name in the given format.

Step 4: Select the given option to state when the backup should be scheduled.

Step 5: View the configured schedule on the dashboard.
